Birchbox Unboxing & Review - June Edition

Monday, 6 June 2016

I came home today to a little surprise left by my door. It was Birchbox day!

The June Birchbox has clearly been inspired by summer, with its blue and yellow palm tree covered design. I love how this month its housed in a rather cute keepsake drawer, rather than the standard box.

Open up the drawer and inside you will find 5 beauty goodies awaiting you. This month il be saving them all for my upcoming holiday, as they will make great travel sized essentials (leaving more room in my suitcase for more make-up, always a good thing right?!)

First up is a pack of skin care wipes by brand 'Yes To...'
Ive actually tried out the coconut variation of these wipes before and they are the perfect thing to throw in your beachbag, so I'm excited to try the cucumber variety which I imagine will be quite refreshing and cooling.

Next is a cute miniature hairspray by Percy And Reed, an absolute favourite brand of mine when it comes to hair styling (I can't live without their volumising mouse!)

Ive always got a miniature hairspray in my bag. One of my top tips is to simply tip your head upside down and use a light mist of hairspray at the roots, flip your hair over and your blow-dry will be instantly revitalised. Il be carrying this with me in my handbag on holiday nights out for sure.

Next up is sample of a nourishing hair mask by Amika. Amika is a brand I have sampled once before through Birchbox and I enjoyed the shampoo I tried out in the past. This is a really generous sample size and having highlighted hair I find using a weekly hair mask is a must, so I'm looking forward to giving this a go.

Try combing this through the hair, and tie it up in a bun when your relaxing by the pool. The mask will protect the hair from the suns harsh rays and stop colour fading, whilst the heat from the sun will let the mask penetrate deeper, leaving you with super nourished hair when you shower it off after a spot of sunbathing!

I was excited to spot this eye brightener and waterline by Jelly Pong Pong inside this months box. I love this brand and its cutesy products which always perform just as well as they look. Im obsessed with lining my waterline with a cream toned pencil to really open up the eye. It looks so much more natural than using a stark white liner, and doubles up as a matte highlighter. It could be used to highlight down the bridge of the nose or the cheek bones for a contouring effect too, so this is a great space saver for your travel make-up bag.

Last (but not least) is this moisturiser and SPF by Paula's Choice. I know Paula's Choice is a really popular brand in the states, but I haven't yet actually tried any of her products so I'm excited to give this a go. This moisturiser is said to go on clear with a mattifying effect, so it can essentially be used as a primer under make up with SPF to boot. A great multitasker and perfect for applying before stepping into the sun.

All in all im super impressed by June's Birch Box. All of the products are the type of items I would generally take away with me, so its perfect to have them all in travel sizes ready to go. All of the brands this month are very luxe, and I like the summer theme and pretty drawer style box.

If you fancy joining Birchbox, use this link to recieve free shipping off your first box and £5.00 worth of birchbox points to spend on whatever you like in the beauty shop (Ive got my eye on a new beauty blender!)
