Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick, Penelope Pink...

Friday, 2 January 2015

I recently put myself on a rather sensible (in theory) 'don't-buy-yourself-anything-so-soon-after-Christmas' shopping ban. How's that working out for me you might wonder? Hmmm - not so well. I caved.

Location: It happened in Selridges.

Justification: I was on the way to pick up a gift for somebody else.

It was a scarf from the knitwear department. What can go wrong, when your in the hat and scarves department? Well, you can get lost on your way through the make up hall. It's dangerous territory at the best of times, and especially so when your on a self imposed shopping ban. That said, I was probably the only blogger who was yet to own a piece of the most coveted Charlotte Tilbury makeup collection. The rose gold shimmered under the harsh department store lights, and I think I literally fell in love with one of the sales assistants. Major girl crush.

Said rediculously pretty girl showed me the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick collection, and I already knew which shade I wanted to pick up. Penelope pink sounded right up my street, and once swatched I knew I had to try it. I'm a sucker for a pinky nude. I really need to grow a pair when it comes to mixing up my preferred lip shades, anything that isn't a sandy/pinky/nude freaks me out, and Penelope pink sat right in the middle of my comfort zone.

What I actually love about this lipstick is the texture. It's solid and moisturising, with a subtle vanilla scent that reminds me of cupcakes. I enjoy whipping this out of my bag and feel extra fancy every time I see the rose gold packaging (easily pleased..) It's well pigmented, and sits just on the right side of a warm pink and a nude, so it doesn't wash you out. I like the subtle sheen, it's not Matt but neither is it overly glossy, just natural and plumping. It stays on incredibly well, and my lips don't feel dried out.

Overall I'm impressed. I've already got my eye on Night Crimson, a V dramatic dark berry shade, perfect for winter. But alas - it's about as far removed from a nude as it could be..... Perhaps it's time to grow a pair?

Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury's range? Any recommendations?

Until next time,

  2. Go for the berry, you won't regret it. Bold lips are great!
I can't speak for that specific shade, though. Now that you jumped on the bandwagon, I am the only blogger left without a CT product. May be time to fix that...

  6. I've heard such good things about these lipsticks but I've never tried them out myself - they do look really luxurious though! A pinky nude is one of my favourite daytime shades too!

  10. I have to be honest, I'm not fortunate enough to have any CT in my make up bag but I have promised myself a treat later in the year, especially after reading all the great blogs about her eyeshadow- and now this fabulous lipstick. It's an amazing shade! I love it.
