The Christmas Tag! (Yay!)

Thursday, 11 December 2014

Firstly, a little thank you to Genevieve from Vievelle for nominating me for the Christmas tag! I have really enjoyed reading everybody's answers so far - and as I'm feeling super Christmassy I jumped at the chance to participate!

  1. What is your favourite Christmas movie? - I'm not sure it's classed as a Christmas movie exactly, but Serendipity is one of my favorite films of all time. I love romance, I love Christmas, I love movies set in New York in the wintertime - and this has it all! I also love Kate Beckinsdale, but who doesn't. If you haven't seen it - watch it, it's adorable.
  2. Do you open your Christmas presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? - Always on Christmas Day. I really enjoy waking up in the morning, the whole routine of breakfast and champagne, and the opening of presents a little later in the morning. When I was younger, my sister and I used to open just one present on Christmas Eve, to keep us going! The excitement was just too much.
  3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory? - I remember vividly laying in bed with an empty stocking at the bottom of it, desperately wanting to fall to sleep incase Father Christmas came and found me awake. I was always really worried about being awake when he came, and the excitement would mean I found it really hard to sleep! Hilarious now that I remember it, but an extremely important situation at the time!
  4. What is your favorite festive food? - Luckily my Mom makes the best Christmas dinner - turkey and stuffing and pigs in blankets and goose fat potatoes. I've almost put on a few holiday pounds just thinking about it. I always quite enjoy Christmas pudding too, and drinking snowballs!
  5. What tops your tree? - At home we have an angel that has topped the tree for as long as I can remember. Myself or my sister would always stand on a ladder to do the honors. Now that I don't live at home I have a heart made of brightly coloured jingle bells that tops my tree, although Im on the lookout for a nice angel myself!
  6. As a kid, what was that one crazy, wild, extravagant gift you asked for but never recieved? - To this day I'm still asking for a puppy, or a house bunny. I never get one, which is understandable, but I dream about waking up to a puppy sat at the end of my bed! (I know puppies aren't just for Christmas - I love them anyway!)
  7. Do you prefer a real tree of synthetic? - I like a real tree. I like how each tree has its own little character and personality. Last year we had a 7 foot tall tree, which was a little extravagant, beautiful, and a nightmare to remove after Christmas. This year we have a short, fat 5 inch tree, that I adore. And you can't beat the smell.
  8. What's your favourite scheme for decorating a tree? - I don't tend to have an exact game plan to follow, and each year is different. I usually stick to the same lights but buy a few new decorations each year, and like to stick to a colour theme. This year, we have tried to create a winter wonderland with trees and penguins and reindeer dotted around!
  9. Giving gifts or receiving? - Of course everybody loves to recieve a gift, but I genuinely prefer giving gifts. I usually come up with great ideas throughout the year, and I really enjoy giving thoughtful and meaningful gifts that people appreciate. I also like wrapping gifts in inventive ways with baubles and candy canes on ribbons.
  10. Christmas Day fashion? - For me, it's PJ's for as long as possible. I like to have a shower and do my hair and makeup, but wear pajamas most of the morning. I usually get changed before dinner time, but it's usually something casual and comfortable rather than glitzy.
  11. What is your favourite Christmas song? - Fairytail Of New York - 100% (and I haven't heard it yet this year, so in my mind it isn't officially Christmas time yet)
  12. Christmas cards or texts? - I'd love to say cards, but at the moment it's usually ends up being texts. I'd love to start sending cards, but a text is so convenient and unfortunately I'm a little bit last minute. I do love how personal cards are and I always appreciate receiving one, and try to send one back if I do.

So that's the end of the Christmas tag! I really enjoyed getting into the Festive spirit and I hope you enjoyed reading it too :) If your reading this, feel free to answer the questions yourself - and tweet me at @mimiflys if you do, so that I can read your answers! In the mean time, I would love to nominate Just Julie, LaVie Cece and Linda Libra Loca...
