Mimi Flys... Hong Kong

Monday, 1 December 2014

After a relaxing two weeks in Thailand, it was time to jet off to one of my favourite destinations in the world, Hong Kong! I have been to Hong Kong multiple times, but usually with work, so it was nice to spend Four nights exploring the city in my own time. We flew from Phuket to Hong Kong with Air Asia, and I was excited to end our holiday here. We stayed at The Mira Hotel, which was perfectly located - close to the MTR (HKG equivalent of the Tube) and in the midst of the hustle and bustle. I liked how modern the hotel was, whilst still being plush and comfortable.

We spent most of our time exploring the city - shopping, eating and generally mooching around. The hotel also had a beautiful pool and spa, so I spent some afternoons relaxing there, they made the best Chai Smoothies and it was nice to unwind somewhere peaceful. In the evenings we would go out for cocktails and yummy food, overlooking the light show across the city.

On one of our first days in town we visited the ladies market. Stretching for just under one mile, the stalls tend to be full of questionable designer bags and knock off items, of which I'm not a huge fan. But, there are also cute accessories, shoes, and electronics to be found. It was fun to wander around and have a haggle - and I managed to pick up two selfie sticks for under a fiver! I Still haven't actually used them, but it was a win on my part nonetheless, I'm a fierce haggler!

I had also been super excited before my trip, mainly at the thought of going to SASA - the Asian equivalent of Sephora - to stock up on their range of Asian beauty products. I'd done a little research beforehand, so I knew exactly what I wanted to try out. One of the first things I did once we touched down in HKG was google the nearest Sasa to my location, worrying that I might not come across one. I need not have worried. Apparently, in Hong Kong there are approximately 2 Sasa Stores per block, meaning that they even out number seven-eleven - and that must be pretty hard to do.

I was armed with a modest list of items I wanted to track down in Sasa, including the infamous fabric face masks and the Holy Grail of all eyelashes, Dollywink. But, of course, shopping doesn't always work out as we planned - I left Hong Kong with an embarrassingly huge bag of items, and a much heavier suitcase. I can't take all of the blame for the extra pounds of luggage though, as I decided to pick up double of whatever I purchased. Why you ask? So that I can host an extra special Hong Kong giveaway, full of items only available in the Far East, that's why!

I was initially going to include said giveaway in this post, but I'm aware that it's pretty long as it is! So, my next post will include all of the items that I picked up, plus a Rafflecopter giveaway for my readers. So stay tuned! I can't wait to host my first giveaway as a thank you to everybody that reads my blog so far... It should be up in the next day or two :)

Until Then!
